The Importance of Inquiry-Based Learning

When someone says, “Time flies in a blink of an eye,” we rarely consider that things do change. Children change and grow daily and each day needs to count. OnsiteKids’ philosophy embraces play-based and inquiry-based learning to meet the social, emotional, and cognitive needs of every child.

OnsiteKids lays the foundation to drive meaningful thinking and build on problem-solving as we witness our little ones become little adventurers, exploding with curiosity. Contrary to a one-size fits all approach, play-based and inquiry-based learning allows each child to explore curiosity and learn at their development level. We steer away from standardized learning and instead, offer each child an opportunity to think independently and discover new perspective.

A recent article, “Why It’s So Important to Play With Your Kids,” from Today’s Parents states, “Play is a crucial part of a baby’s development. Through play, babies learn about the world around them, develop their cognitive and motor skills, and form social connections with others.” OnsiteKids’ child-centered approach teaches self-regulation and fosters a love of learning by asking questions and exploring topics that interest individual children. By encouraging and fostering children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development, our teachers help young learners forge their own paths.

The 4 steps we follow to implement inquiry-based learning for maximum effectiveness are as follows:

🌻 Create - We create unique classroom environments that ignite children’s curiosity through play-based investigation.

🌻 Research - Once a “hypothesis” is created, we dive deeper into the topic of interest by using hands-on experimental and personal investigations.

🌻 Present - When we are ready to address our “hypothesis” with the gathered data and knowledge, we present topics of interest through purposeful activities, songs, games, and books.

🌻 Reflect - Lastly, reflecting upon the study allows the child to see what worked and what needs to be improved for next time.
